SUMMARY:How Amphibians and Reptiles Prepare for Winter- Virtual
DESCRIPTION:As temperatures cool down and days shorten\, amphibians and reptiles (or herps) have a small window of time to get ready for winter. Unlike the majority of birds and mammals who can be active all winter long\, this is not an option for herps. While most herps find shelter from freezing temperatures\, some rely on changing their body chemistry\, slowing their metabolism\, or both. This presentation will show how herps have adapted to surviving the cold temperatures of our area and how their emergence signals the arrival of spring better than any groundhog. Registration is required in order to receive the link to the WebEx event. Please make sure to provide a valid email address. If you do not receive the link by the morning of the event\, please make sure to check your junk email.
