The topics will provide veterinary practitioners with an overview of methods to synchronize estrous cycles of replacement beef heifers\, postpartum beef cows\, and cows managed as recipient females in embryo transfer programs. The series will begin with an overview of the bovine estrous cycle and products approved for use in estrous cycle control. The series in addition will include discussion of the impact of using estrus synchronization on whole herd reproductive management\, factors that contribute to successful implementation of fixed-time AI programs using conventional and sex-sorted semen. By the end of the webinar series participants will be able to: \n\nDescribe the physiology and endocrinology of the bovine estrous cycle and products approved for use in estrous cycle control.\nDescribe the importance of evaluating heifers by performing pre-breeding examinations prior to implementing estrus synchronization programs and the various protocols currently available and recommended for use in heifers.\nDiscuss the various protocols currently available and recommended of use in cows.\nDiscuss protocols being used to synchronize estrous cycles of recipient females prior to embryo transfer.\nAssess efficacy of an estrous synchronization program and identify possible problems when results do not meet expectations.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDuring the registration process\, you will be able to choose one or multiple dates to attend. DESCRIPTION:ORIENTATION:\nRequired orientation will be presented at Burr Oak Woods W. Robert Aylward Education Pond. MDC will provide canoes\, kayaks\, and PFD’s. Attend orientation at the Burr Oak Woods Education Pond to learn about Missouri River navigation and to brush up on our canoe strokes before we head out on the river. We will prepare you for your upcoming The Magic of Sunset float on Saturday\, September 11; 5:30-9 PM. Must attend to participate in the float. \nFLOAT:\nJoin us for the experience of a lifetime! You will be enchanted on this mighty river as the sun sinks in the sky\, blending into the night lights of Kansas City. We will float from Platte Landing in Parkville to Kaw Point. This is a 10-mile float. Please dress for the weather. Bring bug spray\, water and a good flashlight. Bring a simple dinner to enjoy out on the river. *MDC will provide all equipment including PFD (life vests) for each person. Participants are welcome to bring their own Coast Guard approved PFD if they prefer. PFDs will be required on MDC boats at all times. This program is dependent on safe weather and river conditions. Participants will be contacted if conditions are not acceptable on the weekend of the event. All participants MUST register separately. Please bring a headlamp or flashlight.
