DESCRIPTION:MU Extension livestock specialist Heather Conrow says the clinics include classroom sessions and hands-on training. She also encourages 4-H and FFA youths ages 12 and up to attend. \nClick here for flyer \nThe clinics teach producers when and how to assist during delivery\, when to contact a veterinarian and how to care for the newborn calf. \nPresentations include: \n\nDetermination of calf presentation during calving.\nTechniques to assist livestock through a difficult birth.\nTechniques to care for the newborn calf.\nTechniques to care for the mother after a difficult birth.\n\nHands-on demonstrations: \n\nCalf pulling.\nTubing.\n\nA “phantom uterus” will simulate techniques used during calving. A cadaver calf provides a realistic demonstration of the many ways the farmer can assist the cow and unborn calf in delivery. Participants also will have an opportunity to practice tube feeding a cadaver calf. \nRegister by Nov. 8. DESCRIPTION:Speakers from University of Missouri Extension and USDA_NRCS will talk on different topics on fall pasture management. The event is set for 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday\, November 10\, 2021 at the Audrain County Courthouse basement community room. Speakers will talk on principle of soil health\, soil fertility management in pasture\, nitrate toxicity and prussic acid poisoning to cattle and demonstration on rainfall simulation. \nRegister for the event online or by calling the MU Extension Center in Audrain County at 573-581-3231. \nThe event is free\, but dinner registrations are needed.
